I work in a variety of media including photography, drawing, printmaking traditional and digital media as well as painting.

The impetus for my work derives from a desire to examine and represent the ineffable, the numinous, the essential nature of this transient world we live in.

Much of my practice examines the relationship between psychological and architectural space.

Impermanence and transformation in relation to matter and consciousness are recurring themes in my work.

I often begin my practice by working with a series of complex images from which I edit and abstract into ever simpler compositions.

Art is something I have always had a passion for. At the very start of my making career I held an intense interest in collage and printmaking, and was applying both of these techniques to my pictoral study of my home town Herne Bay. My work up until recently, has always been about Herne Bay, as I find it an attractive starting point for any project, as I always want to celebrate and reminisce in it’s post war glory.

As an artist my interests lay in several different processes. From printmaking, to photography, to drawing to assemblage. I always try and explore all of the different avenues of the tools that are available to me, this way I can always express, in some way or another, exactly the point I am trying to make. And this is what I like about my work, when I finally arrive at an outcome I feel suitably satisfied in what I have produced and in what material they are represented in.
My work lays somewhere between nostalgia and an interest in the human condition. Exploring memories and romanticism about different places and people. All through the different techniques I employ.

My art as it stands at the moment, shows an interest in conspiracy, mysticism and all things ‘Top Secret’. The work is questioning of what people believe in, and of information that they deem important to their continuation of existence. It is a nostalgic catalogue of the ‘larger than life’ tales and mishaps of the late 20th century. Bringing to light the events that have been laying under our noses this whole time.

In the future I plan to push the ideas presented in my current project, ideally through the medium of artist’s books. Juxtaposing different ideas and images in a more broad and obsessive scale.

Imagination, is important to me why this matters to me so much that i’m going to share some insights: Its all about changing and inspiring a more cultural understanding of depict art thats original and makes sense to the bystanders. Kent artist Paul Apps is a passionate wildlife and fine artist. His work captures the unique character of the subject and interaction with its natural environment. While Paul creates images of wildlife from all over the world, he frequently returns to the expanse of the African landscape and fauna to inspire his grand canvases. Since his first visit to the continent in 1989, Paul has travelled there annually to collect reference and experience the thrilling game and panoramas.
Increasing demand Paul turned professional in 1987.

Ever since, Paul’s success and reputation as a wildlife, bird, dog, Landscape, Sporting and Plein air artist has flourished. As well as exhibitions in the UK, artworks have been displayed in Africa, Singapore, Europe and the USA, where his first solo show sold out on the opening night. Sotheby’s, Christies and Bonhams have all seen images sell for record prices. With over 60 fine art prints to his credit, originals are also keenly sought after by collectors around the globe.

Furthermore, Paul has taught art techniques for many years, and contributed to several tuition magazines. Paul is currently using impressionistic brushstrokes, mingled with the detail of fur or feather, to create outstanding compositions. He is also exploring landscape and Maritime subjects, taking his love of painting En plein air to new and more invigorated levels than ever before, experiencing the essence of a scene and capturing the impression it has upon him. The freshness of applying the paint cannot be duplicated in a studio, and that is what makes it so exciting.

Russell Scott-Skinner is a painter with a truly unique and expressive visual language. From fighter to artist he has, over the last twelve years been developing and creating his own independent style of painting. The subject base is far from the aesthetics of replicated visual scenes. It sits deeply planted and focused around the exploration of the sub-conscious, where the finished work often lays devout from, or illustrating minimal colour to place all of the attention and focus upon the emotion, mood, shapes and brush work within the piece.
