In 2010 the Sevenoaks Kaleidoscope Gallery hosts a series of exhibitions reflecting on the venue’s name
– Kalos (Beauty), Eidos (Form) and Scopos (The Watcher).

Eidos is the second in this series of exhibitions, exploring the place of ‘form’ in contemporary art. Artists from across Kent were invited to submit works that explore the place of ‘form’ in contemporary art and experiment with the formal qualities of structure and material irrespective of subject or narrative.

Exhibiting artists: Jon Adams, Ros Barker, Steven Foy, Lynsey Harrison, Marinda Hudson, Nick Hughes, Nicole Mollett, Theresa Paton, Hildegard Pax, Bradley Starkey and Shelley Rose.

The exhibition is free to visitors and runs from July 22nd – September 1st

The gallery sits alongside the library and museum within the Sevenoaks Kaleidoscope building. The Sevenoaks Kaleidoscope Gallery is run by Kent County Council to show new work from established and emerging Kent artists.

Large-scale outdoor projection of short films, shot in London , Maidstone, Rome , Barcelona .
The films present playful interventions on street locations each showing the public reacting to the artist interactions, created with performance, interviews and using the camera as medium,
placed in a social situation. Pope John Paul II funeral in Rome is an example. The scale of the projection, on the exterior walls of the Old Neptune pub, is itself a vehicle to create reaction
and participation.

The public is invited to participate and interact with the projections. The activity will be documented.

Traces has toured the U.K since 2007 and this exhibition at the Walkway is the last venue where a body of the work will be shown together
Found materials gathered in India are combined with donated waste silks, fabric and paper from UK, and have been re-assembled into large wall hangings, more intimate textile canvases and objects.
