Craig Turner: Contemporary Art & Design Gallery opening featuring a solo exhibition by local artist Jennifer Price
Maidstone’s newest art Gallery and shop is holding its grand opening on Saturday 22nd May with a solo exhibition from Jennifer Price, the driving force behind the hugely successful Re:Generation Exhibition.
Maidstone, Kent – May 22nd to May 28th 2010: Craig Turner: Contemporary Art & Design opens its door to the public and begins with a showcase of work by Maidstone based artist, Jennifer Price.
Nestled in an alley off Week Street, between MuMus and a little church, is the latest edition to Maidstone’s artistic community. Craig Turner: Contemporary Art & Design, is a brand new shop and Gallery which, alongside exhibiting and selling the owner’s own art and fashion designs, is hosting an exciting solo exhibition to celebrate its opening this month.
Fresh from organising The/Re:Generation Exhibition which brought local artists work to the residents of Maidstone, Jennifer Price will be showcasing her work in the newly opened gallery, including her intriguing Ink Blots series which has featured in some of London’s most contemporary galleries. Interest in her work from critics in the USA will see her cross the pond later this year where she has been invited to create and exhibit work so this may be the last chance for art lovers to see her work exhibited in her own home town for some time to come.
Jennifer, whose work with The/Re:Generation project saw her work alongside Graham Clarke and Vic Reeves, is at the beginning of an exciting and promising career and yet she has already amassed a large body or work which has been described as dynamic, yet introspective; playful and enigmatic. She has worked tirelessly to encourage fellow Kent based artists by organising exhibitions and is a fervent believer that art can offer its audience a new perspective on life, if they are willing to take it. As such, her works are all affordably priced to offer everyone the chance to become involved in art and own a piece of contemporary art for themselves. The pieces on show will be a mixture of abstract and more random work alongside those in a more classical style, demonstrating Jennifer’s versatility as an artist and offering something to suit most every taste. Her work is a pleasure to behold and merges both intelligent creativity with technical mastery while maintaining an accessibility sometimes lacking in modern art.
The exhibition begins on Saturday 22nd May from 10am to 6pm where the public are invited to come and visit the gallery to enjoy the work on display with wine and refreshments to help celebrate the opening of this new venue for art in Maidstone. Jennifer’s exhibition will then run until May 28th. It will be an ideal opportunity to witness the work of one of art’s new generation talents who will no doubt go on to make even more daring and more insightful work as she progresses throughout her career.
