BRINGING THE ARTS OF TASTE AND COLOUR TOGETHER

Kent Creative Arts Community Interest Company is a not-for-profit organisation based in Faversham, Kent, aiming at delivering artistic & cultural activities throughout the year in Kent. Our main community project is the photographic exhibition ‘A Year in the Life of Faversham’.
At KCA we believe that the arts are a key element in people’s lives and that they can improve their well being. Food is too an essential part of this well being, local food especially, with its role in the environment and impact on the economy. We think that the arts can help increase awareness of local food by making it more visible and attractive, and we are developing a project that aims to promote Kentish food by means of partnerships between local artists and local producers.

We aim at:
- stimulating both local artists and local businesses;
- developing cooperation between them;
- promoting local creativity and local produce;
- encouraging people to buy locally, thus stimulating local economy;
- promoting Kent and local identity;
- empowering communities through the arts.

We are in the process of building a community of local artists in Kent (designers, photographers, painters…), to design a variety of labels to be used on local food produce.

You can view some sample so far from this page: http://kentcreativearts.co.uk/html/labels.html

If you are a Kent based artist and wish to submit your work for this project, here is how it works:

1- send us a couple of examples of your work, as labels. You can choose what you like from jam, chutney, pork pies, apple pies, fruit juice, beer, cheese, cakes, eggs etc… This will need to be on digital form, any photo format, 300 dpi if possible whether they are digital work or scanned from paper. If you cannot scan, get in touch with us and we’ll try to help.
It doesn’t have to include all text; you can send imagery only.

2- your work will be added to our portolio.

3- when our portofolio is sufficient, we will pursue contacts we have made with local producers and we will also start promoting the labels on a wider scale in Kent. We will also make connections with organisations that aim at promoting Kent and/or local food.

4- when producers get interested in using labels from KCA, they may either choose already existing labels or they may pick up an artist’s style in which case we will get back to selected artist(s) to design labels following producers’ requirements.

5- KCA designer will create the final label format and file using the artist artwork; then printing and delivery will be organised.

6- producers will purchase labels from KCA and artists will get a financial return from their artwork, depending on how many labels are produced. We are currently designing a pricing policy and will be able to supply more information on this very soon.

We hope to hear from you soon and we look forward to seeing your label proposals!

Do feel free to contact us with any question, should you need any more information.

Best regards,
